Álvaro Parra Ivars, a young man from Altea who completed his secondary and high school studies at IES Bellaguarda in Altea, has won this year's XIV 'Isidro Cortina' Award, presented by Rotary Club of Benidorm to the top student from the Marina Baixa region in the university entrance exams. The award was presented today at a ceremony in Benidorm, attended by the city's mayor, Toni Pérez; the Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno; and other members of the local council, who joined Rotary Club President David Pérez; Isidro Cortina's family; and numerous club members.

The young man, currently in his first year of a degree in Mathematics, Physics, and Mechanics at the Sorbonne in Paris, received this award today from the president of the Rotary Club in Benidorm, accompanied by his parents and grandparents, after achieving a score of 13.7 out of 14 on the University Entrance Exams (PAU) last year. The award recognises academic excellence and includes a prize of 3,000 euros.

Mayor Toni Pérez congratulated the award-winning student, wishing him every success in his academic, professional, and personal life, and also extended his congratulations to the student's family and teachers.

The mayor emphasised that this recognition, promoted by Rotary Club, is "a great help in enabling these young people to continue their studies" and highlighted it as yet another example of how the organisation, presided over by David Pérez, "contributes to a better society." In this case, promoting talent and training among the younger population of the region.
