More than 220 students will receive municipal grants for extra support classes classes in academies and study centers
The Department of Education has resolved the call for municipal grants to contribute to the classes of school reinforcement of the students of 2nd and 3rd cycle of Primary and Secondary of the public and catholic centers of the city. The councillor of Education, Maite Moreno, has indicated that "in the coming days the Local Government Board (JGL) will approve the granting of these grants to 227 students in Benidorm for a total amount of 68,100 euros." Once the grant has been approved by the JGL, it will be paid to the beneficiary families.
Moreno recalled that "it is the first time that the City Council has called this line of aid, aimed especially at Benidorm families with fewer resources and those whose children require educational reinforcement, derived, for example, from not having been able to continue during the After confinement, the normal development of the telematic classes offered by the centers due to the lack of technological means ”.
The person in charge of Education has detailed that “each student will receive an aid of 300 euros, equivalent to 50 euros per month during the first semester of this year; money that families will allocate to the classes that the student receives in the academy or private study center of their choice ”. According to the bases of the call, the classes must be one hour long and their frequency of at least two weekly sessions.
Moreno has reported that these grants "are 50% financed by the City Council and the Generalitat Valenciana" and "integrated into the municipal project 'Activem els col·les' that proposes extracurricular activities and educational support for the 2020/2021 academic year and that participate in the areas of Education, Culture and Sports ”.
According to the data provided by the councilor, during the application submission period - which was extended - 273 requests were received, of which 227 were granted. The councillor has pointed out that "these new aids are one of the various resources that the Benidorm City Council has made available to families in the city to face the effects of Covid-19, both from an economic and educational level."
