Next Saturday will be the turn of the traditional opening speech
Holy Week in Benidorm begins with the unveiling of the poster, a work by M.ª Elena Romero
With Lent, which began last Wednesday, preparations for Holy Week have begun. For this reason, El Buen Pastor church hosted the unveiling this evening of the official poster announcing Benidorm's Holy Week 2026, a work by architect and graphic designer María Elena Romero.
The event, organized by the Governing Board of Brotherhoods and Fraternities of Holy Week in Benidorm, presided over by the Head Brother José Manuel Olivera, president of the Brotherhood of Our Lady of Hope and Peace, was attended by the Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, along with other members of the city council, the regional deputy José Ramón González de Zárate, and the presidents of the brotherhoods and fraternities of Benidorm's Holy Week.
After the unveiling of her work, María Elena Romero spoke, explaining the meaning of it as a "calling card" for Holy Week in Benidorm and an "invitation" to residents and visitors.
Following this, Toni Pérez congratulated the artist on her work, which he described as "truly wonderful," emphasising that it clearly "came from the heart." He described it as a successful graphic design that evokes "the suffering" commemorated during Holy Week, but also "the joy of the resurrection."
The events leading up to Holy Week in Benidorm will continue next Saturday, February 28, with the traditional opening address, the speaker of which has not yet been announced, and with the Palm Sunday processions, which will be held by all the city's parishes on March 29.
