Equality organizes a tight program of events to celebrate the 'International Women's Day'
The Department of Equality of Benidorm City Hall has organized an extensive program of events on the occasion of the 'International Women's Day' to be held on March 8. The councilwoman of the area, Paquita Ripoll, has presented today these activities, which will run from Friday, March 1 until Sunday, March 10.
Ripoll said that on March 8 "is a very important day that reminds us that we must continue working for equal opportunities between men and women" because "there are many inequalities and discrimination that women still suffer, especially in the work environment due to the lack of family conciliation, the salary gap, as well as cases of sexual harassment ".
The concilwoman added that "we can not forget that the greatest inequality is gender violence", although he has acknowledged that "on the other hand we have to celebrate that there are many achievements and much the way forward to achieve equality between men and women ", to conclude by inviting all citizens" to participate in all the activities we have scheduled from the Department of Equality to commemorate March 8 ".
The events scheduled by the Department of Equality begin on Friday, March 1, at 18.00, with the play 'Los Inconquistables' by Tossal Teatre at 20:00 in the hall of the City of Benidorm. On Monday, March 4 at 12:00, the banner commemorating International Women's Day will be placed on the balcony of the City Hall. On Wednesday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m., the book 'Actívate y triunfa' by Diamantina Centeno will be presented at the City Hall. On Friday, March 8 at 8:00 pm, the play 'A Margarita' will be performed, while the 'XIX Meeting of Women of the Marina Baixa' will be held in Villajoyosa. In addition, until March 10, Espai d'Art of the City of Benidorm hosts the exhibition of 'Posters Against Gender Violence' carried out by high school students of Art of the IES Pere María Orts of Benidorm. To these activities must be added those organized by various groups of the city throughout the week.
