Benidorm, member of the Executive Committee of DTI Network

Benidorm has become into a member of the Executive Committee of the DTI Network, a position in which the city will be represented by the mayor, Toni Pérez. The configuration of the Executive Committee has been resolved during the meeting convened in Madrid by the Secretary of State for Tourism for the constitution of the governing bodies of the DTI Network. A meeting in which the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto; Secretary of State for Tourism, Isabel Oliver; the president of SEGITTUR, Enrique Martínez; the CEO of Red.es, David Cierco; and the general secretary of the FEMP, Carlos Daniel Casares, among others.

The mayor recalled that "Benidorm played an important role" in the creation of this national network proposed by the State Secretariat of Tourism, since "it was part of the promoter group in the spring of 2018 and in the exploratory works", and now it has become "one of the seven municipalities in Spain with a presence in the Executive Committee" together with Santander, San Sebastián, Avilés, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Calviá and Arona. The circumstance occurs that these last three City Councils and Benidorm are part of the Association of Tourist Municipalities of Sun and Beach (AMT).

Perez has been "satisfied" of the presence of Benidorm in this governing body of the DTI Network, and has ensured that this "serves as an incentive to continue working on this line, which has already reported to the city becoming the first Destination Intelligent tourist certificate of the world.

The mayor has stressed that since its establishment last October, the DTI Network has grown to reach today 69 destinations, in what is configured as "an unstoppable transformation based on tourism intelligence and its application in destinations and in tourism management. "

The DTI Network has among its purposes to facilitate the process of conversion to smart destinations through advice, search for financing and technological solutions or strategies to operate this change.

This Network will promote collaboration between the member destinations, seeking synergies and the exchange of good practices. Likewise, it will promote coordination and search for a framework of joint promotion, contributing to guarantee Spain's leadership in tourism. In this sense, the mayor has indicated that from this Network "we will be able to add value to the Spain brand, deepening in the repositioning of the destination through tourism intelligence, and learn, improve and grow, while offering the rest of integrating the fruits of our work over the last few years, once we have achieved the challenge of being the first Smart Tourist Destination certified in the world ".
