Education Department offers a new course through the Language Classroom, with English, French and Spanish for foreigners

Benidorm City Council’s Education Department is once again offering the Municipal Language Classroom this academic year, a programme providing English, French and Spanish courses for foreign residents at different levels. Education Councillor Maite Moreno explained that the enrolment period is now open and will remain so until Wednesday, 16 September, with the aim of “making language learning accessible to anyone interested.”

Moreno recalled that participation in the Language Classroom “is open to anyone over the age of 14 who wishes to acquire knowledge of other languages at a level that enables them to communicate in everyday situations and in the workplace, while also providing them with a foundation for continuing their language studies at higher levels.” Specifically, this academic year the Language Classroom offers English at A1 (beginner) and A2 (elementary) levels; introductory French through the ‘Parlez Français’ course; and Spanish for foreigners at A1 and A2 levels, as well as the B1 Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE) and B2 Spanish.

The English A1 and A2 courses will also be taught online through the Miguel Hernández University’s beEnglish Lab platform. In addition, A1 English will be available in an in-person format.

Enrolment can be completed until 16 September at the Education Department, located on the third floor of the City Hall. However, if places remain available on some courses after the regular enrolment period, registration will remain open for a few additional days.

To enrol, applicants must complete the application form and provide their ID card (DNI), Foreigner Identity Number (NIE) or passport, together with a direct debit authorisation form. Applicants wishing to benefit from any of the available discounts must also provide the relevant supporting documentation.

The Education Councillor explained that “classes will begin on Monday, 21 September, at the Multi-Purpose Building next to the Leonor Canalejas public school, on Calle Escuelas.” She also noted that courses will be held in the morning or afternoon, on alternate days (Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays), as well as on two Fridays each month, and will run until 28 May 2026.

The standard monthly fee for the Language Classroom is €40.96. However, discounts of up to 100% are available for large or single-parent families, pensioners, Carnet Jove cardholders, former students and people with disabilities, as well as families in which more than one member enrols.

Finally, the councillor highlighted that the Language Classroom is “one of the many services offered by the City Council and made available to residents and the wider community, enabling them to improve their education and expand their knowledge.” She therefore encouraged anyone interested to complete the enrolment process.
