The edict prohibits the recreational firing of firecrackers between 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and from 2 a.m. onwards and requires the total closure of premises at 6 a.m.
The City Council informs the members of the clubs about the new security measures for Major Patron Saint Festivities
Benidorm City Council has informed the city's members of the new security measures that will begin to be applied during the next Major Patron Saint Festivities, which are celebrated from 8 to 13 November. To this end, the Councillors for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, and Public Service, Jesús Carrobles, accompanied by the Chief of the Local Police, Luis Martín Arévalo, participated last evening in the assembly of the Associació de Penyes Verge del Sofratge, the largest festive group in the municipality, to announce the main new features that have been introduced in this year's festive ordinance and that will be applied to all festive entities during the celebrations. The president of the Association, Jaume Cortés, also participated in this assembly, as well as numerous members of the group of members.
Both councillors explained that this year this visit “was held almost a month before our Festes, and not at the last meeting of the year, because we wanted to inform them with sufficient advance notice of all the news and to be able to listen to the doubts and suggestions of the associated clubs to be able to manage them in time”. Likewise, at this meeting, the club members were also informed of how ‘Dia de les Penyes’ on Saturday, October 26, will be organised in terms of security, especially regarding the adult Playbacks competition.
About this ‘Dia de les Penyes’, the Councillor for Security pointed out that, as in previous years, Julio Iglesias Auditorium in Parque de l’Aigüera “will have surveillance and capacity control to guarantee that within this venue everything goes without incident” and indicated that “from 9 pm onwards access to the auditorium will be regulated and restricted to club members with a wristband”.
News in the Ordinance
Likewise, Jesús Carrobles has pointed out that the main changes that have been introduced in the Regulatory Order of Clubs and Associations "aim to improve the conciliation of partying and rest during these days" and has reminded that "although many of us will be enjoying and celebrating, there are also many neighbours who these days have to continue working to provide service to those of us who are celebrating the festivities and visitors, so it is necessary to combine this fun with respect for others."
The councillor has specified that, among these new features of this ordinance, Benidorm City Council “has incorporated this year the prohibition of fireworks of category F1, F2 and F3 from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm and from 2 am to 10 am, to try to facilitate the rest of all the residents”, except the fireworks events organised by the Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals, Associació de Penyes Verge del Sofratge and the City Council.
Another of the new features affects the clubs. According to Carrobles, “We maintain the obligation for the clubs to stop playing music at 4 in the morning and the obligation to close the club at 6 in the morning to facilitate the work of the cleaning services.”
For her part, the Councillor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, recalled that “next Friday, October 25, is the deadline for non-associated clubs to be able to present all the necessary documentation to obtain a license as a type B festive venue and to be able to open a premise the next festivities” and advanced her wish that both on "Dia de les Penyes" and the big days of the city, “as has already occurred in the great majority of events that the clubs have experienced during this year, will once again be an example of celebration and coexistence and everything will go off successfully.”
