Benidorm City Council has agreed with the business associations of the city, the Neighborhood Council and the neighborhood associations the delimitation of the regulated parking areas in the municipal term with the new colors that will define them. This was made clear during the celebration of the Mobility Council that took place today.
The Councilor for Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, has remarked in this regard that "we have met with all the business associations of the city and with the neighborhood associations and an agreement has been reached with all of them."
At today's meeting, the study that has been carried out throughout the municipality on parking and its viability in Benidorm was announced.
According to this study, the exclusive parking area for residents will be colored orange instead of the current white. These streets are mostly concentrated in Foietes-Colonia Madrid and Els Tolls area, although there will also be an orange zone on some roads in Rincón de Loix, el Campo and La Cala.
Another novelty will focus on the coloring of the so-called green area. On these roads, parking will be free for residents, but paid for other vehicles. It will be located in the lower part of Mercasa, some streets of El Campo, Levante and Rincón de Loix.
As in previous years, in some streets in Levante the blue zone will remain in the summer months while at the end of the high season they will once again be free parking.
Finally, Vicente Lorca Alós and Avenida de Xixo will be a green parking area during the winter months, while in summer it will be a blue ORA area.
González de Zárate has specified that the green parking area "has been designed especially in streets with many stores and commercial establishments as requested by neighbors and businessmen."
As for the orange area for residents, it will begin to be painted this month starting from the area of Colonia Madrid-Foietes. With this new color, the councilor stressed, "all doubts that may exist among users regarding the parking area for residents or free parking will be dispelled." Until the time of repainting, the resident parking area is colored with a solid white line, while the free parking area is discontinuous.
The number of exclusive parking spaces for residents (orange) is currently approximately 1,694 throughout the city, "although it will be extended to more areas that are already being analyzed," the mayor indicated. The free parking spaces for residents and paying for the rest of the vehicles (green zone) represent an approximate total of 1,586, although new roads will also be added, while the area that will be green in winter and blue in summer will occupy about 310 spaces. Finally, it should be noted that the number of blue zone squares in the municipal area amounts to about 1,400.
To all of them are added the more than 5,000 spaces located in the dissuasive car parks distributed in the main accesses to Benidorm and another 6,000 of free parking on the surface.
The Mobility Council also addressed urban public transport, at which point the manager of the Avanza Group, Pablo Álvarez, presented the three actions that the company is developing.
On the one hand, the so-called ‘citizen card’, of which 40,000 copies will be issued with a balance of 10 euros for registered citizens with the aim of “promoting public transport”. Second, the installation of information screens at the main bus stops with information on bus arrivals and other notices. In this sense, González de Zárate has remarked that the slight delay in the implementation is due "to the supply crisis, especially of chips, which affects the whole world."
And finally, the improvement of traffic in the city through the connectivity of bus lines with dissuasive car parks. "At this moment, from the TRAM and Bus Station there is already a connection with three lines that lead to the Center, La Cala and Rincón de Loix", Álvarez pointed out, who also recalled that in the aforementioned dissuasive car parks there are "parking meters available for free the ticket that is used to take the bus there and back ”.
