City Hall, National Police and Local Police meet to raise a battery of urgent measures, including prohibiting the distribution of advertising on public roads

Benidorm will increase surveillance cameras and inspections in the leisure area of Rincón de Loix

06 July 2018
Benidorm aumentará las cámaras de vigilancia y las inspecciones en la zona de ocio del Rincón de Loix

Benidorm City Council, the National Police and Local Police have held a working meeting today in which they have raised "the first measures to adopt urgently" in the entertainment area of Rincón de Loix after the last incident Registered early Thursday. In the meeting chaired by the acting mayor, Ana Pellicer, the Councilor for Citizen Security, Lorenzo Martínez; the Provincial Commissioner of the National Police Corps, Alfonso Cid; the accidental Commissioner of the National Police Force, Luís Mencía; the Chief Inspector of the Judicial Police, Luis Bardón; and the Acting Chief Intendant of the Local Police, Luis Martín Arévalo.
The Councilor for Public Security indicated that "although what happened a few days ago is an exceptional event, it damages the image of Benidorm and that is something that we will not allow".
Hence, in this work meeting have been specified measures "that will be implemented immediately in the coming days," such as increasing surveillance cameras in the main streets of the area, increase police inspections of establishments and in public road, and prohibit the distribution of advertising aimed at attracting customers. On this last aspect, Martínez explained that "the City Council allowed this activity to bars and clubs in the area, but we have found that police reports reveal that there were people who used to hide themselves in it to carry out criminal activities" and hence "we go to proceed with its eradication. "
The head of Citizen Security indicated that "these first measures will be accompanied by others, who are waiting for legal and technical advice" and that will be addressed at the Local Safety Board next week. In this regard, the council reported that "the intention is to convene the Local Safety Board for next Tuesday," although he informed that the date and time of this meeting are at the expense of the appointment of the new sub-delegation of the Government. An appointment that, predictably, will take place on Monday, and on which depends the power to convene the Local Security Board, for which the attendance of the person in charge of the Subdelegation is required.
