Benidorm will create a new recreational area of 3,000 square meters at the junction of Marina Alta and Baixa avenues

Benidorm City Council has started work to create a new recreational area that will be located in the municipal area on the road that links Marina Alta and Baixa avenues in La Cala area. It is an area of about 3,000 square meters very close to the place where a new park is being built with areas of bio-healthy, children's and pet elements, on Marina Baixa Avenue itself.

This new area, which was visited this morning by the councilors of Citizenship Participation and Parks and Gardens, Ana Pellicer and José Ramón González de Zárate, will incorporate new trees with the planting of species such as hackberry and Tipuana, hedges, and areas with circuits for the seniors and picnic areas.

The action is part of the improvements offered in the contract for the landscaping action being carried out in Marina Alta and will mean, as explained by councilor Ana Pellicer, “recovering for the use and enjoyment of the residents of a degraded area that is owned by municipal and that has been a neighborhood request.”

Not in vain, the work derives, as has been said, from the creation of the new park that is being built a few meters above and that is included within the actions contemplated in the participatory budgets.

Pellicer highlighted that this new green area also implies "continuing to complete the upper area of La Cala in all areas once the renovation of infrastructure on Marina Alta and Baixa avenues was completed months ago." The councilor highlighted that thanks to the improvements in the contract “these works have begun to make this new space viable, which will entail not only the cleanup of the area but also the incorporation of shaded areas with new trees. “Picnic and bio-healthy areas.”

In that sense, she added that in addition to being a place of transit between the two avenues, "now it will also be a place for recreation, company and for the enjoyment of families and so that our elders can exercise."

Finally, Pellicer stressed that “this type of action is what makes the neighborhood and the city”; and she has reaffirmed “the City Council's commitment to continue providing services and green spaces to all areas of Benidorm.”
