González de Zárate once again urges Júcar Hydrographic Confederation to act in the sections of its competence

Benidorm undertakes the cleaning of Barceló and Derramador ravines to minimize the effects of possible torrential rains

Benidorm acomete la limpieza de los barrancos Barceló y Derramador para minimizar los efectos de posibles lluvias torrenciales

Benidorm City Council, through the Department of Road Cleaning, has been undertaking the cleaning of Barceló and Derramador ravines in the municipality for a week. The objective of this action, as explained by councilor José Ramón González de Zárate, is to "minimize the effects of possible torrential rains in the city."
As has been done in other years, the tasks consist of removing items that appear, vegetation and cleaning dry reeds. In the case of Barceló ravine, work is being done on the section closest to the old N-332 road, and due to the special characteristics of the work, a specialized company has been hired that, in addition to the necessary personnel, employs mechanical and manual brush cutters. for optimal maintenance of the area.
The work began a week ago and will continue for ten or fifteen more days, as indicated by the mayor, who has specified that in this case the investment amounts to about 37,000 euros.
In Derramador ravine the works are being carried out by a brigade of the Municipal Technical Services. González de Zárate has pointed out that with these cleaning and clearing tasks "the image of these areas and safety are improved in the event of heavy rains."
The councilor has insisted that "throughout the year we clean the urban section of the ravines of Benidorm, especially in relation to the removal of belongings and debris, a task that is intensified at this time with the elimination of weeds and green waste ”.
The councillor of Cleaning has also criticized that "while the City Council acts throughout the year in the ravines, the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation does not do the same, despite the fact that they are responsible for keeping non-urban sections clean." The City Council, González de Zárate has specified, has required the body in writing on several occasions to "comply with its obligation, especially at this time of year."
