The awards recognise the beaches of Levante, Poniente and Mal Pas for excellence in their design, equipment and maintenance
Benidorm renews the three Ecoplayas flags that guarantee the quality of its environmental management

The three largest beaches in Benidorm, Levante, Poniente and Mal Pas, have once again renewed the Ecoplayas flag awarded by the Technical Association for Waste Management, Urban Cleaning and the Environment (ATREGUS) in recognition of sustainable environmental management. This was conveyed by the Councillor for Beaches, Mónica Gómez, who pointed out that this organisation “once again recognises the highest quality of our waters, the sandbanks and the services” offered by the city and which have turned Benidorm into “a tourist destination par excellence and the European capital of sun and sand”.
The recognition of the Ecoplayas flag aims to distinguish the quality of the beaches from an environmental, tourist and sustainability point of view, to disseminate their efforts, innovations and achievements. In this way, it is about promoting excellence in the design, equipment and maintenance of the great assets that the beaches of our country constitute, as well as their tourist development.
Mónica Gómez recalled that, in addition to these Ecoplayas flags, Benidorm's beaches "have numerous and demanding quality distinctions, which guarantee both the cleanliness and quality of the water and the sand, as well as the excellence of the services we offer", also highlighting that "these recognitions are for the City Council a reason for satisfaction for a job well done, but at the same time an incentive to continue working, to continue innovating and to continue placing our beaches among the best in the world".
