Benidorm reiterates its support for Asmibe on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities
Benidorm City Council reaffirmed its support this Thursday for the Association of People with Disabilities of Benidorm and the Surrounding Area (Asmibe) and for all people with physical, functional, or intellectual disabilities, on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which is commemorated worldwide next Wednesday, December 3.
To this end, numerous members of the City Council joined Asmibe in placing a commemorative banner on the main façade of the City Hall. Among those participating were the Councillor for Social Welfare, Ángela Zaragozí, and the First Deputy Mayor, Ana Pellicer.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was declared in 1992 by the United Nations General Assembly and is celebrated every year on December 3. It aims to promote the rights and well-being of people with disabilities in all areas of society and development, as well as to raise awareness of their situation in the political, social, economic, and cultural aspects of daily life.
Ángela Zaragozí announced that the city will resume its commemorative events for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities next Wednesday, with the traditional charity market featuring all the local social organisations and the reading of the manifesto drafted annually by the Spanish Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities (CERMI) for this occasion.
