More than 250 athletes compete in the XXVI Asmibe Adapted Sports Games in Benidorm
The event brought together more than 250 participants from some twenty centres in Benidorm and other municipalities in the province, in an atmosphere marked by inclusion and coexistence. The organisers also had the support of a hundred instructors, 40 students from the Higher Technical Degree in Social Integration at IES l’Arabí in l’Alfàs del Pi, 14 students from the TAFAD (Technician in Physical Activities and Sports Animation) program at the Lope de Vega International Centre, and 15 volunteers from Asmibe.
The event was attended by the Councillor for Social Welfare, Ángela Zaragozí, and the Councillor for Sports, Javier Jordá, who, along with other members of the council, accompanied the president of Asmibe, Mari Fernández, during the medal and trophy presentation to the participating athletes and organisations, which took place after the competition.
Nine of the participating centres are based in Benidorm, while the rest travelled from towns such as Vila Joiosa, Dénia, Relleu, Sant Joan d’Alacant, l’Alfàs del Pi, Elche, and Alicante, with the support of instructors, family members, and volunteer staff.
The program included numerous adapted sports activities, among them assisted running, sprints, long jump, shot put, pétanque, psychomotor circuits, goal shooting, basketball, tennis, mini-golf, bowling, and other skill games.
The organisation and coordination of the events was handled by students of the TAFAD (Sports and Physical Activity Training) program, who actively collaborated throughout the day, a contribution recognised with a trophy.
After the awards ceremony, the celebration concluded with a communal meal in the facility's indoor multi-sports court, attended by nearly 500 people, including athletes, their companions, and volunteers.
