Benidorm organizes visits to the ETAP and WWTP, and school theater on the occasion of the World Water Day

16 March 2017
Benidorm organiza visitas a las ETAP y EDAR, y teatro para escolares por el Día Mundial del Agua

The objective is to make known and value the integral cycle of water, and raise awareness about saving water resources

Benidorm City Council has organized a series of awareness-raising activities on the occasion of the World Water Day, which will commemorate on 22 March. Specifically, "open days of the most significant facilities in water: the Treatment Station for Drinking Water (ETAP) and the Wastewater Treatment Plant (EDAR)" have been scheduled, as reported by the councilor of the area, José Ramón González de Zárate.

The visits, addressed to the general public, will be held on 21, 23 and 23 March, at 10 am and 12 noon. In addition, if the demand requires it will be enabled another group at 17.00 hours. De Zárate clarified that "given the sensitive nature of these facilities" the groups of visitors will be made up of a maximum of 20 people.

Citizens interested in participating in the ETAP visit can call 965 862 956, and 965 865 025 can contact those who are inclined to the treatment plant. In addition, from the City Council will inform of these visits to the members of the Mobility Councils, Urban Scene, School, Neighborhood Housewives and other associations. "We want civil society, but also representatives of associations, to go to these visits," he said.

The councilman of Waters stressed that with these guided and explanatory visits, the City seeks to "put into value two basic and exemplary infrastructure for many municipalities" such as the ETAP and WWTP, which have allowed Benidorm to stay out of the problems of Supply or turbidity that have suffered other locations. Also, as you walk through the facilities, participants will be able to see "the amount of things they pour down the drain and the work that needs to be done to make that water come out clean."

The other programmed activity is aimed at the children's public, and more specifically, more than 350 schoolchildren in the 3rd and 4th Primary schools of the Gabriel Miró, Bautista Lledó, La Cala, Miguel Hernández, Aitana and Vasco Núñez de Balboa schools. All of them will go to the performance of the play 'La gota viajera', a theater with comic dyes and with which one wants to 'raise awareness of the importance of saving water resources'.

The 'Gota Viajera' will be represented in the Hall of Acts of the City Council on Wednesday, March 22 in two sessions: at 10.00 and 11.30.
