Benidorm offers free charging in May at the public car parks of Tomás Ortuño, Rincón de Loix and Mercado
Benidorm City Council and Telpark, the company that manages the public parking facilities under the Futura 2000 Plan, are launching a joint initiative to promote the use of electric vehicles. This initiative will offer free charging for a few days at the Tomás Ortuño, Rincón de Loix, and Municipal Market parking facilities.
The initiative will run from May 11 to 17 and will include free use of 15 semi-fast charging points up to 22 kW. According to Councillor for Mobility, Francis Muñoz, this measure "aims to facilitate access to the existing urban network and encourage more citizens to incorporate public charging into their daily lives." To access the service, users must charge their vehicles through the Telmark app, which allows them to locate available charging points in real time and manage the process digitally and easily.
Francis Muñoz explained that the project is part of “the commitment of both entities – the City Council and Telpark – to move towards a more sustainable city model, with fewer emissions and supporting the energy transition through concrete and accessible solutions.” Initiatives like this, Muñoz added, “are part of the municipal sustainable mobility strategy and contribute to consolidating a more efficient city, prepared and committed to the energy transition.”
Telpark, for its part, emphasised that the goal is to build trust in the “mobility ecosystem” they offer to cities, so that more and more drivers integrate public charging into their daily routines.
The company manages more than 655 parking spaces in three underground parking garages in Benidorm. Its app has more than 6.2 million users and a global network of over 1,500 electric vehicle charging points.
