González de Zárate clarifies that the agreement was unanimously adopted by the Mobility Council and has always been dealt with "with light and tachyphons"

Benidorm awaits the opinion of the Consell Juridic Consultiu to modify and create the Green Zone

16 October 2018
Benidorm espera el dictamen del Consell Juridic Consultiu para modificar y crear la Zona Verde

The councilor for Mobility, Traffic and Transport, José Ramón González de Zárate, has reported this morning that it was the Mobility Council that unanimously agreed to modify the Blue Zone contract, especially focused on the creation of new Green Zones for residents in Colonia Madrid and La Cala, in view of the serious difficulties that the citizens of these neighborhoods have to find parking when they leave work. The councillor stressed that the Mobility Council adopted the agreement after holding several meetings with all representatives of all political groups that attended them. The agreement has been sent to the Consell Jurídic Consultiu of the Generalitat Valenciana and is waiting to receive the mandatory opinion to continue with its processing.

With these clarifications the councillor of Mobility forestalls the rumours made by the councilman of Compromis, Josep Bigorra, in which it indicated that "the government of Benidorm takes more than a year processing the modification of the contract of the ORA secretly". De Zárate stressed that the file is being processed "with light and stenographers from minute one, exactly from August 2017 and within the Mobility Council with the sole purpose of trying to improve the parking problem for citizens of Benidorm" .

"What we are trying to achieve," he added, "is that the citizens from Benidorm do not pay to park in those Green Zones, but people from outside Benidorm pay, because this can also be an incentive for many people to register in Benidorm. "

To emphasize that nothing is being done "secretly", González de Zárate stressed that the file "went through the Municipal Plenary, thus initiating its processing by requiring Intervention, Treasury, Contratación and Contract Reports of the Blue Zone contract. With all these files in hand, -he explained-, we have found that there are different criteria and interpretations on the part of the technicians. In this situation, this government team to do nothing by decree as the opposition says, but to do things with transparency and without any hint of illegality, we have asked the Consell Jurídic Consultiu of the Generalitat Valenciana an opinion on the matter. At no time, "he added," have we deceived or camouflaged anything to the opposition. This issue the opposition has left five times on the table and in all my speeches I have made it clear that we are not going to do anything by decree as it did the team of the previous government of the Socialist Party, but we are going to ask the corresponding reports and when we have them in one way or another, we will act accordingly. I regret, "he concluded," that Mr. Bigorra continues to throw a spanner in the works on such an important topic of general interest and Benidorm citizens. "
