The alert will remain until Sunday and it will be prohibited to park in Racharell, Murtal and Toledo streets

Security department activates the Emergency Plan for possible heavy rains from Thursday

16 October 2018
Seguridad activa a partir del jueves el Plan de Emergencias por posibles lluvias intensas

The Department of Public Security, directed by Lorenzo Martínez, has activated the Municipal Emergency Plan before a possible episode of heavy rains from Thursday, October 18, in the Valencian Community, notified to the City Council today by the Coordination Center of Emergencies of the Generalitat.

Martínez explained that "the alert will remain until Sunday, day 21, which is expected to conclude the heavy rains and meteorological phenomena that accompany the DANA-Isolated Depression in High Levels".

Continuing with the Municipal Emergency Territorial Plan, the areas next to the ravines will be signposted, in which, if necessary, traffic cuts could be decreed. In addition, for prevention, as of Thursday, parking on Racharell, Murtal and Toledo streets will be prohibited, while extreme caution is recommended if driving through the adjacent streets.

While the alert continues, there will be an emergency brigade of municipal technical services active 24 hours, as well as those of the different concession companies like the Local Police, Fire, Civil Protection and the Emergency Coordination Center.

Before this possible episode of heavy rains, the citizens are advised to: inquire about the level of risk in the municipality and if the place where they live or work is in a flood zone; check the house and clean the pipes and drainpipes; be informed of the evolution of the situation through the media and not spread rumors of damage; remove vehicles from areas that may flood; get away from the banks of rivers and ravines; and to circulate preferably by main highways and freeways, moderating the speed and avoiding river crossings of ravines.
