The mayor assures that resuming ‘Benidorm Gastronómico’ is “one more proof that we are an open and safe city”
18 establishments participate in the IX Conference of Rice of the Earth, which closes Benidorm Gastronómico 2020
A total of 18 establishments participate from this Saturday, October 17, in the IX Days of Rice of the Earth with which the ‘Benidorm Gastronómico 2020’ closes and which the mayor, Toni Pérez, has presented today; the president of Abreca, Javier del Castillo; and this year's the Gastronomic Godfather, José Miguel Martínez Baldó.
The mayor has indicated that the calendar of the 'Gastronomic Benidorm' has been upset by the health crisis, which caused the suspension of two of the scheduled appointments: the II Tuna Days scheduled for April and the X Tapas and Pinchos Contest, which it was to be held in June. However, it has influenced that "resuming 'Benidorm Gastronómico'" with these days is "one more proof" that "we are an open and safe city", as has also been verified "during the October long weekend" and previously during all summer season.
Toni Pérez has underlined "the exemplary behavior" of the hospitality sector from the first moment in which the activity could be resumed, and has affirmed that the reality derived from the health crisis shows that "Benidorm needs restoration and hospitality to offer itself as the great destination that leads the sun and beach segment but also other options ”.
Likewise, he highlighted that the IX Days of the Rices of the Earth have in this edition "two more restaurants than last year", thus increasing the gastronomic offer of this event, in which menus with starters will be offered daily, the best rice dishes and dessert at a price of 23 euros. The mayor is sure that these days will be "an incentive to prepare new initiatives", and added that "we have to continue positioning gastronomy as attraction" since "it is a good initiative for people to come to Benidorm" and the establishments "continue to open the blind and generate employment and happiness."
Javier del Castillo, for his part, emphasized that “we are going to do these days giving the best of ourselves and with all the enthusiasm to serve all our clients”, and added that “what we want is that everyone enjoy these great days that we dedicate to our rice dishes ”. Del Castillo has stressed that "we continue to propose different rice dishes every year, although it is not easy, and we hope that people from all over the province of Alicante will come to enjoy our cuisine."
For his part, the 2020 Gastronomic Godfather has predicted that these days will be "a success" despite the situation at the national level; and has shown all his "support" to the sector "in this very difficult year."
The participant restaurants are: Bolikki, Club Náutico, Condal, El Bodegón, Esturión, El Mesón, Jardín Mediterráneo, Tapería Aurrerá, La Bodeguita de Salva, Cava Aragonesa, Arrocería La Marina, Mal Pas, Marisquería El Puerto, Posada del Mar, La Mejillonera, Punto de Sal, Taberna Andaluza and Villasol.
The menus offered each day by the participating establishments can be consulted on the Visit Benidorm website (www.visitbenidorm.es) and through the Gastroeventos app.
