The works of the second and third phases of the project to improve the drainage of rainwater in the street of Dr. Orts Llorca are already under way. This morning the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the president of the Provincial Council of Alicante, César Sánchez, have come to the area to delve into the details of these works, which will limit the floods in Dr. Orts Llorca to the maximum and in The closest stretch of the Mediterranean avenue. A point that, as the mayor recalled, has been very sensitive "for 60 years" to floods when there are episodes of rain of some importance. The mayor thanked Sánchez "the implication of the Provincial Council" in this second phase, which has a cost "about 800,000 euros," which covers 100% of the provincial entity and affects "the stretch between Girona Street and Avenida del Mediterráneo ". This phase runs from the intersection of Dr. Orts Llorca with Gerona Street to Avenida Alfonso Puchades and will end, at the latest, in mid-January. In both phases, "Dr. Orts Llorca's stretches will be reformed for the enjoyment of the pedestrians" improving the urban scene and especially the approaches, which "in some cases are 60 years old." Perez stressed that "most of the work will not be visible" because it is concentrated in the subsoil, although "it will bring a lot of benefits to the merchants and residents of the area, but also to all citizens who travel through Avenue of the Mediterranean and that we have seen this way flooded in days of rain ". In addition, the third phase will limit the problems in what is known as the Number 1 curve, one of the most conflictive points when precipitation episodes occur. The President of the Diputación has stressed that these works "will allow to improve the quality of life of people living in Benidorm and businesses that have suffered the floods so far," and added that Dr. Orts Llorca Of the 28 actions that the provincial entity is making in the Marina Baixa for an amount that exceeds three million euros.

Technological systems for the improvement of road safety
