On Monday, September 29th, the employment contracts of the two people hired by Benidorm City Council through the ETRAME program expired. This program, an employment promotion program run by LABORA (the Valencian Employment and Training Service) for hiring people with mental health problems who have been users of the Mental Illness Care and Monitoring Service (SASEM).

The workers participating in this program were selected by LABORA and are unemployed individuals who have been cared for at the Benidorm SASEM. The purpose of the grant is to increase the employability of the hired workers through professional experience.

In this regard, the Valencian Government provides local care services to people with chronic mental health problems through centers, services, programs, and resources such as SASEM, adhering to the principle of decentralization. The LABORA grant awarded was €37,017.59, funded by the State Public Employment Service.

The City Council's ETRAME program began on December 30, 2024, and over the course of its nine-month duration, participants worked at information and customer service booths in Benidorm. Mónica Gómez, Councillor for Employment and Local Promotion, highlighted the "important social work" that the City Council's implementation of this program represents, "supporting people who belong to groups with disabilities and who face greater difficulties in accessing employment."
