Tourism innovation experts discuss about 'Smart Beaches' in the XVIII International Tourism Forum of Benidorm

Tomorrow awards of the 7th Pedro Zaragoza Ideas Contest will be delivered 


Innovation and tourism experts dicuss today about 'Smart Beaches' in the XVIII International Tourism Forum of Benidorm, that the mayor has inaugurated this morning along with the General Director of Tourism of the Generalitat Valenciana, Raquel Huete, and the Vice Chancellor of Educational Quality and Innovation, Francisco Torres. A forum organized by the City Council, the Agència Valenciana de Turisme, and the Chair of Tourist Studies Pedro Zaragoza at the University of Alicante (UA); and with the collaboration of Visit Benidorm Foundation, and the hotel employer Hosbec. The mayor noted that this forum is for two days a "meeting point and a reference for the study, analysis and innovation linked to tourism" and from which to develop strategies to implement to the concept of "smart tourist destination, our greatest treasure, the beaches ". He also stressed that the theme of the International Tourism Forum is related to what we are doing, to implement in Benidorm the philosophy of a smart city, smart tourist destination and smart beaches ". The General Director of the Government also praised the theme chosen for this year's forum, since "we will only win the future through innovation and intelligence, making it available to the sector and in collaboration with the government". For his part, the Vice Chancellor of Educational Quality and Innovation explained that the forum is "a meeting and exchange of ideas and knowledge", in this case "around the beaches managed from a smart and efficient view" and he assured that "Benidorm is the municipality that has been a leader in effective and efficient management of the beaches". Pérez also emphasized the 7th Ideas Competition of Pedro Zaragoza, in which the best proposals related to smart beaches are awarded. All other finalists will be presented tomorrow at 09.00 hours in the Assembly Hall of the City Council, and the jury will announce the winners at 13.30. The day began with a panel on 'Boosting Smart Tourism from the institutions' moderated by the Head of Tourism Innovation of the Valencia Region Tourist Board (AVT), Sergio Bellentani, and in it participated Nicolas Barrios, director of Projects of SEGITTUR (State Society for the Management of Innovation and Tourism Technologies). The second panel was dedicated to 'success stories' of 'Smart Beaches', with the participation of the director of the Smart City project in Málaga, Susana Carrillo; the president of the Spanish Association of Scientific Experts in Tourism (AECIT), Eduardo Parra; and the coordinator of the SmartOffice of Palma, Tomeu Crespi.
