Toni Pérez participates in the constitutive session of the managing body of the Smart Platform of Destinations

With the act held this morning in Benidorm, in which the mayor Toni Pérez has participated, the National Tourist Smart Center begins to take shape, starting with the constitution of the managing body of the Smart Platform of Destinations.

Tourism Minister Reyes Maroto arrived in Benidorm after 9:30 in the morning, being received at Invat.tur by Mayor Toni Pérez and the Autonomous Secretary for Tourism, Francesc Colomer, along with the president of SEGITTUR, Enrique Martínez Marín and representatives of RECI and AMETIC. Minutes later, the Secretary of State for Tourism, Fernando Valdés, and representatives of the Ministry joined.

After the establishment of the Promoter Entity, the protocol was signed between the secretaries Valdés and Colomer, to immediately proceed to the presentation of the Reference Framework and the exhibition of the Intelligent Platform of Tourist Destinations that has been launched with the presentation of the study of the Spanish Network of Intelligent Cities and the presentation of the model of layers and functionalities of the platform, of which there are already 68.

During the minister's brief stay at the Invat.tur facilities, where the Platform will be housed -for the time being-, she exchanged views with the president, vice president, and general secretary of HOSBEC, in the presence of the mayor of Benidorm.

After his departure and resuming the working day, in his speech, Francesc Colomer stressed that "Tourism already has a country policy where Benidorm will play a fundamental role" with this Intelligent Platform of Destinations that will be located, for the time being, in the 2nd floor of the Invat.tur building on Passeig de Els Tolls in Benidorm. Valdés, for his part, pointed out the importance of fulfilling the promise regarding the headquarters of the destinations platform, highlighting "the transfer of knowledge from Benidorm to the whole of Spain", and also pointing to its international projection, because, he said, "there is no There is a solution comparable to the one that is starting today in Benidorm” for the transfer of tourism knowledge and direct technological involvement, uniting the sector, the tourist, the destination and the administration in the process of digital transformation.

The objective of the Smart Platform for Benidorm Destinations is to generate data models that can be used in the development of tourism management and governance actions.

At the beginning of 2023, the Secretary of State announced, calls for specific actions and content residing in Benidorm will be tendered.
