Toni Pérez, at the inauguration of the Health Tourism Congress, highlights the interest in Wellness issues for the future of the sector
The mayor of Benidorm Toni Pérez, this morning attended the opening ceremony of the first International Congress of Health and Wellness Tourism of the Costa Blanca.
The Regional Secretary for Tourism, Francesc Colomer; the president of the Alicante Provincial Council, Carlos Mazón; the Vice-Rector for Scientific Transfer, Innovation and Dissemination, María Jesús Pastor; the mayor of l’Alfàs del Pi, Vicente Arques; and the director of the University Institute for Tourism Research, José Luís Gascó.
In his intervention, Toni Pérez highlighted the renewed importance that the Health and Wellness component has been acquiring in Tourism issues and the success of participation achieved with more than three hundred registered, widely exceeding initial forecasts.
The panel of speakers, the mayor considered, has been key to the success of this congress and to ensure its continuity in future annual appointments, given the interest it arouses.
He recalled the genesis of the congress and highlighted the implication and importance of the University in the transfer of knowledge. He thanked the Provincial Council for its impetus in these initiatives and recalled the historical bond with the municipality of l ’Alfás, in whose municipal area the complex headquarters of the congressional ribbon are located.
He congratulated the Bataller family for the development of the center, recalling the award that the UNWTO has recently awarded to its promoter, Alfredo Bataller, and encouraged the registered participants, and the speakers, to learn more about Wellness tourism and the experiences it contains.
