On-site activity at the Conservatories of Music and Dance is suspended temporarily and as a precaution

On-site activity at the Municipal Conservatories of Music and Dance has been suspended "temporarily and as a precaution" due to the evolution of a crack in the premises of the bullring, although it "does not directly affect the facilities of the educational centers ”. The mayor, Toni Pérez, has decreed the immediate closure of the facilities "for precaution and security" and has advanced that "municipal technicians are already studying the possible effect of the evolution of this crack, which was being monitored and that in any case is external to the Conservatories ”.

As a result of this monitoring that the University of Alicante has been carrying out since 2018 -after two years of municipal intervention-, it has been detected that although the witnesses that controlled the crack have not undergone any change, there has been a variation in the direction of the same.

This crack is located on the east face of the bullring, in which it is planned to act through the funds of the Sustainable and Integrative Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI) with a rehabilitation project that includes the construction of an annexed building and with which a great multiporpose space will be generated in which the central library, a youth center and a hotel for associations will coexist. It is expected that on March 29, the departments that will be in charge of drafting the project will present it.

Likewise, we are waiting for the Generalitat Valenciana to finalize and deliver to the City Council the first phase of the cultural center, in whose premises both conservatories will be installed. The Valencian government has promised to finish these works in May, after which the City Council will proceed to equate the building and move the conservatories.

Toni Pérez has specified that "next Monday the Music and Dance centers will inform students and their families of the situation and the possible resumption of academic activity."

Likewise, and also as a preventive measure, the two access gates to Parque de l'Aigüera closest to the bullring have been closed, those located next to the leisure and recreation park and on l ' Aigüera avenue.
