The conference organized by the Opinion Club addressed current issues such as housing squatting, illegal immigration and lack of security

Representative Ana Vázquez fills the Assembly Hall to talk about 'Security and freedom in the 21st century'

La diputada Ana Vázquez llena el Salón de Actos para hablar sobre ‘Seguridad y libertad en el siglo XXI’

The popular deputy in the Congress, Ana Belén Vázquez, was the speaker who brought the Opinion Club to Benidorm yesterday. A talk in the Assembly Hall that managed to fill the venue almost completely and drew applause from the attendees on several occasions. Vázquez spoke about 'Security and freedom in the 21st century' and highlighted that both concepts "are not opposed" and that "only extremists confront them." The solution, she said, “is that above all else there is the Constitution.” At the end of the conference, she answered the questions asked by the attendees.

The deputy referred to problems such as illegal immigration, home squatting or the multiple recidivism of criminals without ever going to prison and offered some data such as that "in Catalonia 12% of the foreign population commits half of the crimes." ”. One of the reasons for this, in her opinion, is that “fewer and fewer police stations are being called, Civil Guard barracks are being closed and, therefore, robberies are increasing.”

At the conference, she also regretted that the State Security Forces and Bodies “have lost the principle of authority” and advocated for a reform of the Penal Code. “In the province of Alicante, in 2023, 807 agents were attacked. An attack costs 50 euros,” she stated. And this happens, continued the popular deputy "because a policy of goodism is practiced that benefits the criminal."

Ana Vázquez also alluded to immigration and pointed out, "We indeed need immigrants to work, but they must respect our values.” In her opinion, “what happened in France cannot happen, immigration must be linked to the search for employment.”
