The renovation of the avenue of Europe will follow the model of Jaime I and will be executed by sections

The renovation and development of Europa Avenue will follow the model already implemented in Jaime I, both in its configuration and materials. This has been transferred by the municipal technicians in the meeting of Urban Scene that has been held today and in which this work has been presented, included as complementary in the first phase of remodeling of the avenue of the Mediterranean.

According to the project, this complementary work will be executed by sections and will start at the roundabout at the junction of the Mediterráneo and Europa avenues. The works will follow the ascending layout of the avenue. The councilman of Urban Scene, José Ramón González de Zárate, has indicated that "the intention of the City Council is to be able to complete this renovation until the roundabout where the Valencian and European Community avenues come together, but this will depend on the offer presented by the company to which are awarded the works. "

The first action to be taken in Europa Avenue will be the withdrawal of the current lampposts -known as' andreas'-, which will be replaced by the same ones installed in Jaime I and which will change their location, going from the central part of the road to the sidewalks. In this way, "you get vision of the beach in one of the main entrances to the city as it has already happened in Jaime I".

As in this avenue, also in Europa the median will be eliminated and a bicycle lane will be installed instead. With regard to the pavement, the identical design will be used for the pavements of Jaime I, which was approved by the Council of the Urban Scene. De Zárate has clarified that the avenue will maintain the current width of sidewalks -which exceed five meters-, and will also preserve the parking spaces and loading and unloading, the trees and the four traffic lanes.

In addition to the surface, the project also contemplates acting in the subsoil, where it is planned to change the drinking water network -to avoid losses-, and to renew the sewage system and the stormwater network -which will be connected to the one in the Philippines Street. has more capacity-.

The members of the Urban Scene Council have given their approval to the proposed renovation.
