The PSOE proposes bringing back the publication of ‘Benidorm en Cifras’

The Socialist Municipal Group has called on the Popular Party-led government to restore the preparation and publication of the statistical compendium Benidorm en Cifras (‘Benidorm in Figures’), a publication produced every two years and coordinated by the Local Employment and Development Agency in collaboration with all municipal departments. The most recent edition was published in 2020.

Socialist spokesperson Cristina Escoda highlighted the document’s great usefulness in providing a rigorous, comprehensive and objective overview of the city. Since 1996, Benidorm en Cifras had compiled an extensive range of data, references and socioeconomic, demographic, employment and infrastructure indicators, making it possible to accurately assess the state of the municipality and the quality of the services provided by Benidorm as a major tourist destination.

Escoda criticised Toni Pérez’s administration for failing to restore this essential tool for transparency and municipal assessment over the years. In this regard, the councillor stressed that having a publication of this kind is not only essential for the City Council itself, but is also of vital importance to local businesses, the education community, entrepreneurs and researchers who need an accurate picture of the municipality.

For all these reasons, the Socialist spokesperson urged the mayor and his government team to get to work on gathering all the necessary data so that a new edition of Benidorm en Cifras can once again be published and presented.
