Poetry bids farewell to Benidorm with the closing of its 6th International Festival

This morning, a meeting between poets and secondary school students from the Nuestra Señora de los Dolores catholic school was held in the City Hall Auditorium, where the young people were able to share their creations with the poets and interact with them in a fun, interactive creative writing class.

In the afternoon, the same auditorium hosted the second session of recitals, which included the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, other members of the council, and the Polish Consul in Barcelona, ​​Łukasz Knurowski.

Festival Director Julio Pavaneti greeted attendees on the occasion of today's celebration of International Poetry Day, March 21st, and thanked Anabel Villar for her work in organizing the event. He also thanked "the Councilor for Culture's push" to bring the festival to its sixth edition and emphasized that "poetry can make the world more human."

Łukasz Knurowski then briefly addressed the audience, expressing his “honour to greet poets from Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Poland who share their voices and creativity with us.”

The Polish consul emphasized that poetry is “a form of human expression” that has transcended “cultural and linguistic barriers” and that, in the case of Spain and Poland, “it has served as a bridge that has united our nations.” Knurowski praised this collaboration, which this time took shape with a Spanish-Polish “poetry anthology” entitled “A Bridge Between Cultures.”

The poetry session, in collaboration with the Rosa Martínez Dance Studio, featured various choreographies that alternated with readings of the works by their authors and, finally, the presentation of diplomas and souvenirs to the participants.
