'Un Paseo por la vida', made up of around thirty images, arrives this Friday at the Espais d'Art Urbà Ponent, El Campo, Pont and Hispanitat

The photographic vision of Cuco de Frutos arrives in Benidorm, set up as a great open-air museum

Exposición fotográfica de Cuco Frutos

'A walk through life', the photographic proposal by Cuco de Frutos, can be seen today in four of the Espais d'Art Urbà in the city, which opens with this exhibition the summer season of 'Benidorm Expone'. The mayor, Toni Pérez; the acting Councilor for Historical and Cultural Heritage, Ana Pellicer; and Cuco de Frutos himself have been among the first to enjoy today the images that are exhibited in l'Espai d'Art Urbà de Ponent, which are added those exhibited in El Campo, Hispanitat and Pont.

On this tour, the author assured that "it is an honor" to exhibit in Benidorm, "a land that I love and that has always treated me very well since the first time I came."

The show, as Pellicer explained, is made up of "30 photographs" that viewers "will find themselves taking a walk" and in which the author opens a space for "interpretation" through "a magnificent ability to play with the light and reflections.

The mayor specified that after exhibiting "in galleries in New York, Madrid, and many places in Spain", the work of Cuco de Frutos lands in the city by the hand of Azahar Maris and Antonio Magraner; "something worthy of thanks" and that is "a real pride" since it means that "people from Benidorm have great friends who are great artists who are kind enough to let us show their work here."

Regarding the artist's photograph, the mayor stated that "it is enough to see one to know that it requires a lot of work and professionalism, a very specific vision and to capture a moment that can sometimes take hours to wait for and that any question can distort ”. As an example of this, one of the images of the exhibition was taken at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Broadway in New York, which was taken on a day when a race freed vehicles from this space and which was only possible by avoiding the vibrations of the subway.

Toni Pérez pointed out that photography is "one of the art modalities that best matches the open-air museum project that has been promoted in Benidorm"; and he added that this is possible "among other things because we have prepared the city so that it is possible." In this regard, he stressed that “Benidorm in its day aspired, being inspired, to be an open-air museum; and we have done it, adding more and more quality and a greater cultural offer for all those who walk by”.

In addition, he stressed that "the pandemic" put "high value on what we had already done in Benidorm", confirming that "the city is the best space not only to look for art but for it to find you".

Cuco de Frutos is the first proposal of the summer within 'Benidorm Expone', but it will not be the only one. Thus, in a few days, other artists will land in the rest of Espais d'Art Urbà in Benidorm.
