The profit from the sales of the copy will go to the social works of Club de Leones de Benidorm

Blanca Navarro presents her book 'When leaving Yad Vashem' in Benidorm in order to "keep the spirit of the Holocaust alive"

Presentación libro de Blanca Navarro

The Assembly Hall of Benidorm City Council hosted yesterday afternoon the presentation of the book 'When leaving Yad Vashem', by the Benidorm author Blanca Navarro, an act that was attended by the acting mayor, Toni Pérez, and other members of the corporation, in addition to numerous public and representatives of various local associations.

The acting Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, was in charge of presenting the author by giving a brief biography of her and highlighting the interest that everything related to the Jewish world aroused in her since her first visit to Israel.

Juan José Galiana, president of the Lions Club, a collaborating entity in the presentation, also highlighted the objective of the work, which is, he said, "to prevent dehumanization" and called Blanca Navarro an "attentive and close person." She also pointed out that she is a member of the local Lions Club "and her lion spirit is not intimidated despite residing outside the city." Galiana recalled that the profit from the sales of the copy will go to the entity's social works.

For her part, the author indicated that the purpose of her work is to "keep alive the spirit of the Holocaust," which she stated, "did not begin in 1944 with the so-called 'final solution,' but in the 1930s when Hitler won the elections and a month later the rest of the political parties were outlawed”.

In the opinion of Blanca Navarro, despite the fact that many years have passed since then, "even today there are situations that are repeated." At that point, she cited that in 1936 “the Jews were not allowed to participate in the Olympic Games and today a soccer World Cup is being held in Qatar. We also witness heinous war crimes in Ukraine and we can't do anything about it."

Navarro closed her speech by appealing to "keep the memory alive and draw a lesson from all this because we must not forget that we are the same human beings as then, with the same mechanisms." "We must do it so that our young people come out strengthened in their values and these situations do not happen again," she added.
