More than 140 children and teenagers participate in Benidorm Summer Youth Program

A total of 144 children and adolescents from Benidorm are participating in the Summer Program organised by the Department of Youth during July and August. This program offers educational leisure activities aimed at those aged 10 to 16 and also facilitates family life balance. The Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, along with the Councillor for Youth, Ana Soliveres, and the Councillor for Education, Maite Moreno, visited the facilities of the Leonor Canalejas public school, the base of operations for this program, to share their impressions with the participants and the four instructors who manage the activity.
The Summer Youth Program runs from Monday to Friday during the two main summer months, in three two-week shifts, with 48 children per two-week period, divided by age into groups of 12 people.
During these days, young people participate in workshops, such as emotional intelligence, robotics, recycling, crafts, and more. As well as board and outdoor games, such as the 'Seagull Game', water games, hiking, visits to the beach or the municipal swimming pool, and cultural excursions.
Mayor Toni Pérez emphasized that, once again this year, "the City Council is offering families a program aimed at children and adolescents so they can fill the free time that summer offers with leisure activities and, in addition, learn new things in a playful and fun way." He also highlighted "the value of sharing these days with other people of the same age but who come from different schools or institutes," while emphasizing that "for many families in our city with children and adolescents, it is a wonderful option for balancing work and family life during a busy period."
For her part, the Councillor for Youth indicated that, after the young people who participated in the first fortnight, "we are currently almost halfway through the second round, which will run until August 14," after which "there will be a third round between August 18 and 29." Ana Soliveres noted that, thanks to contributions from the City Council and the Valencian Youth Institute (IVAJ), participation for each fortnight is priced at 40 euros per child, making it "an affordable option for most households" and fulfilling a dual objective: "To provide children with an educational, recreational, and healthy leisure program, and at the same time, to provide families who don't have vacation time these days with another resource to take their children."
In addition to this Summer Program, Benidorm City Council offers other options to promote work-life balance during July and August. These include the Summer School, in collaboration with the Marina Baixa Family and Family Development Association (FAMPA), which this year is being held at the Miguel Hernández Primary School; the Summer Educational Support Program (PAEV), which is being held at the Leonor Canalejas Primary School; and the municipal sports schools.
