The masses of the Mare de Déu del Sofratge and Sant Jaume, in l’Aigüera Park

03 November 2020
Les misses de la Mare de Déu del Sofratge i de Sant Jaume, en el Parc de l'Aigüera...

After the suspension of the Major Patron Saint Festivities of 2020 in Benidorm due to the pandemic caused by Covid-19 and following the request of the Parish Council, on Sunday 8 and Monday, November 9, masses will be celebrated in honor of the patroness saint of the city, the Mare de Déu del Sofratge, and the patron saint, Sant Jaume.

Due to the health crisis, from the Department of Festivities directed by Jesús Carrobles, citizens are informed that the religious acts will take place in the open air, in Julio Iglesias auditorium of l’Aigüera Park, specially prepared for the occasion.

Mass on Sunday and Monday will begin at 11:30 a.m., although the doors will open at 10:00 a.m. This is to avoid possible crowds and physical contact between those attending religious events. In addition, there will be hydroalcoholic gel dispensers at the entrance to the venue, and routes will be marked both for entering and leaving the venue.

The liturgical celebrations on Sunday and Monday are the only events to be held this year in the official program of the Major Patron Festivities. The health situation has forced the suspension of all planned events and the funds budgeted by the City Council for the organization of the Major Patron Festivities have been allocated to municipal aid to families affected by the economic crisis caused by the pandemic.
