L'Hort de Colón, more open than ever for vacations

28 June 2018
L’Hort de Colón, más abierto que nunca por vacaciones

The Department of Historical Heritage has presented this morning the new summer cultural program in Hort de Colón that will start tomorrow, Friday, June 19 and will last until September 28. The head of the area, Ana Pellicer, has appeared before the media accompanied by the director of Heritage, Antonio Couto, and has announced that this year will continue the dramatized visits in this manor house of the nineteenth century, rehabilitated by the City Council.

"On this occasion," said Pellicer, "it will be Luis Cáceres, retired captain of carabineros and owner of the first house built on the beach of Levante who will greet Tía María who will be the one who will invite us to visit the Hort de Colón to surprise us with their stories about Benidorm of yesteryear ". The dramatized visits will take place on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, from 9.30 pm to 10.30 pm. They will begin on July 4 and end on September 28. " Ana Pellicer recalled "the great success" that the initiative had the previous year and has advised those who want to enjoy this trip to the past of the city, to book the visit since, as pointed out by Antonio Couto, "for reasons of space and security "representations" are limited to twelve people per session ".

Animation and workshops for the little ones

The Councilor for Historical Heritage also announced the activities dedicated to children: workshops, Wednesdays and Thursdays; animations, Friday. The workshops will begin at 7:15 pm and end at 8:45 pm and activities such as mandalas, puppets, popular games, pin-ball machines, clay, dream catchers, magic, etc. will be developed. "That children do not repeat the previous workshop," the mayor stressed, so they can "enjoy even more with the news." Regarding the animations, Ana Pellicer has said that they will be every Friday, from 8 pm and until 9 pm. The councillor encouraged all children to participate "tomorrow at the opening gala", by Glau company.

Music for the elderly

On weekends, said Pellicer, "after the pedestrianization and the silence that the street has won we will dedicate Saturdays to Jazz and Sundays to Classical music". There will be approximately one-hour concerts that will begin at 8:30 pm, "Jazz Saturdays and Classical Sundays". Jazz lovers can enjoy the performances of Arará Jazz Trio, Jesús Martínez Jazz, or the sections of the bands of Unió Musical and SM l'Illa de Benidorm. These societies will play a prominent role in the 'classic' Sunday concerts in which they will share stage with Salzillo Quartet, Le Caravan, Event Music Art, Ecordadúo, Orquestalia or Le Hot Ensemble.
