‘Escenas olvidades. La historia oral de Golpes Bajos’ by Xavier Valiño, presented in El Torrejó

A journey through the trajectory of one of the most representative groups of Spanish pop

13 October 2018
Un recorrido por la trayectoria de uno de los grupos más representativos del pop español

This afternoon the book 'Escenas olvidadas' was presented in the municipal building of El Torrejó by the writer and "musical archaeologist" Xavier Valiño. The event, organized by the Department of Culture directed by Ana Pellicer, has been presented by the mayor, Toni Pérez, and has had the presence of the Councilman of Festivals and Events, José Ramón González de Zárate and the representative of the socialist group Conrado Hernández .

Together with the mayor, the author and exmembers of Golpes Bajos, Teo Cardalda and Luis García have sat down at the table. Together with Pablo Novoa, they will star this evening in a tribute concert to Germán Coppini, which will be held within the framework of Iberia Festival and that, in addition, will have the interventions of Ivan Ferreiro, Sole Giménez, Javier Ojeda, Pepe Begines, Mercedes Ferrer and Nacho Campillo.

Toni Pérez thanked Benidorm for the celebration of the concert tribute to Coppini and pointed to Iberia Festival "as the best framework" that has managed to bring together "the best of Spanish pop music." The mayor also said that for the city "is a milestone" this choice for the presentation of the work, which enhances its role as a benchmark for national music.

On the other hand, Teo Cardalda remembered the trajectory of the group "the special person" that Germán Coppini was and that "that Spain I liked more". The musician stressed that "the key to the book is to be able to see things with maturity" as time goes by. About the concert tonight, he stressed that "we are nervous emotionally but not musical" and that it will be "unrepeatable." Finally, Cardalda thanked the commitment of Javier Ferrándiz, promoter of Iberia Festival, with whom it have been possible to carry it out. Luis García stressed that the book "collects the stories we live from the perspective of today, the present."

Xavier Valiño, in his speech, reviewed the history of the group and the few "but very intense years" shared by the protagonists. The book, edited by Efe Eme, offers a selection of images of Golpes Bajos, from the concerts in black and white and color. It can be purchased from now in specialized bookstores. Its price is 21 euros.
