The IES Pere Mª Orts i Bosch, 4th in an international competition on cybercrime investigation

A group of students of the Cybersecurity specialization course at IES Pere Mª Orts i Bosch in Benidorm has achieved fourth place in an international competition on cybercrime investigation organized by Boston University. This competition, the fourth Annual White Hat Conference, was held between May 31 and June 2, and 20 teams recommended by national institutions and recognized universities were measured.

As established in the call itself, focused this year on Specific means to combat online child exploitation and victimization, the objective of the challenge was to “create an effective synergy for cybercrime investigation, test the best practices that meet the needs all levels of law enforcement and establish training guidelines for computer forensics and digital evidence.”

To this end, IES Pere Mª Orts i Bosch group carried out activities related to digital forensic analysis and the investigation of cybercrime in digital case scenarios designed by Boston University. An independent platform was in charge of registering the successes of each team and updating the score table, in which the group from Benidorm obtained a fourth position with 730 points.

In addition, one of the members of the IES Pere Mª Orts i Bosch team won third place in the individual classification of the competition.

The acting Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno, congratulated the team led by Professor Cristóbal Campos for "their magnificent results in this international competition, which they reached after being selected from more than 60 aspiring groups and in which they have shown his great capacity and aptitudes in a field that is developing and evolving at a dizzying speed such as cybersecurity and, more specifically, the fight against cybercrime”.

This group of students, the mayor affirmed, "is an ambassador of Benidorm and of the professional training that is given in the educational centers of the city".
