The jury of the 22nd 'Villa de Benidorm' Festive Music Composition Contest has unanimously decided to award the first prize of the contest to the 'pasodoble' presented under the motto 'Essència', as reported today by the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, who recalled that "this edition we have signed a record of participation with 31 pieces".

The councilor of Culture explained that “as in previous editions, the authorship and the final title of the work will be known on September 23 at the extraordinary concert of festive music that will be performed by the Unió Musical de Benidorm; a concert in which the piece will be premiered”. On this occasion, the concert, which serves as a prelude to the Moors and Christians festivities, will be held in Óscar Esplá auditorium in Aigüera Park.

As established in the contest rules, the author or author of the winning piece will receive a cash prize of 2,000 euros and a trophy.

In addition to the Councilor for Culture, the technical jury for this edition was made up of Josep Cano, music teacher; José Vicente Asensi, director of the Superior Conservatory of Music of Alicante 'Óscar Esplá'; Rafael Doménech Pardo, former director of the Benidorm Musical Union; and the local musician Javier Cidrón representing the Association of Moors and Christians.
