Sant Antoni Commission programs 'Sopars de la Terra', a new gastronomic initiative for August 26
The Sant Antoni 2024 Festivities Committee has presented this morning a new and innovative gastronomic proposal to finance the upcoming festivities in January, 'Sopars de la Terra', an initiative that continues to bet on the recovery of popular traditions and customs and our native cuisine and that will take place next Saturday, August 26 at the Hermitage of Sanç once the afternoon falls.
The Councilor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, congratulated the Sant Antoni 2024 Committee for this new culinary initiative, highlighting "the enthusiasm and affection" they have put into it.
The president of the Comissió, Juan Pedro López, explained that "this initiative arose after assessing the heat that it is doing during the day and that it created certain doubts about the celebration of the traditional event of 'Menjars de la Terra'. We liked the idea of maintaining gastronomic traditions and we thought that this night event had all the incentives for its organization".
Juan Pedro López thanked the support of the council and the collaborators, encouraging them to attend the gastronomic exhibition on Saturday, August 26, which will be accessed "using a 10-euro ticket, being able to taste three 'tapas' such as sang en ceba, Spanish tortilla, cocas a la calda and farcida, sausages, and other specialties that individuals and companies will contribute”.
The 'Caga de la Burra'
In addition, it has also been announced that on September 17, the 'Cagà de la Burra' will also take place at Ermita de Sanç, another traditional act of the Comissió de Sant Antoni, also to raise funds and that last year was recovered after six years without being able to celebrate.
A fenced space will be set up with 500 plots painted inside. Each plot can be purchased at the price of 10 euros.
Juan Pedro López qualified that "we will leave the donkey inside this enclosure from noon waiting for the animal to relieve itself, meanwhile, we will enjoy a good atmosphere with bar service with food at popular prices with music atmosphere to liven up the day".
The person who owns the 'lucky' plot will receive a prize of 1,000 euros.
Mariló Cebreros invited all the residents and tourists who visit us to participate in these two “special, enjoyable events that surely will not leave anyone indifferent”.
