The Environment department and Consorci Mare are developing a campaign to raise awareness about recycling on beaches and in educational centers
Benidorm City Council, through the Department of Environment, and the Consortium for the Implementation of the Provisions of the Zonal Waste Plan 6, Management Area A1 (Consorci Mare), have launched an information and awareness campaign on the importance of recycling, which is being carried out on the city's beaches and in several primary and secondary schools.
The campaign began on October 1st and will conclude in the middle of next month.
The main objective is "to bring to the attention of the public, schools, and associations the processes of domestic waste treatment carried out in facilities that are a benchmark in waste management," stated the president of Consorci Mare, José Ramón González de Zárate. Mónica Gómez, Benidorm's Councillor for the Environment, also highlighted "the importance of continuing to bring recycling closer to the public and schoolchildren to advance environmental awareness."
The campaign is being carried out by environmental educators who will explain to the public where and how to dispose of waste, each in its corresponding container and with its characteristic colour. The campaign also includes visits to the Consorci Mare plant in El Campello. This organisation operates in the 52 municipalities of Marina Alta, Baixa, and El Campello and has eight environmental educators.
The campaign is being carried out in two areas. First, on the beaches, starting on October 9th and ending today, the 14th. Thus, on the 9th and 10th, environmental educators set up their information point on Poniente Beach, near Mont Benidorm Avenue. On the 13th, they were located from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Villajoyosa Avenue next to the Local Police checkpoint and on Ametlla de Mar Avenue next to the beach. And from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., they were located at number 50, Avenida del Mediterráneo. Today, Tuesday, they repeated the campaign in Ametlla de Mar, and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., they will do so in Poniente on Avenida Mont Benidorm.
These activities are also being carried out in several schools and secondary schools. Consorci Mare has four teams of educators for this purpose. The first team visited the Vasco Núñez school on the 1st and 10th of this month and will return on November 17th. They will also be at Bautista Lledó school on October 16th and November 18th. They will be at Gabriel Miró school on October 27th, Murtal school on November 18th, and Puig Campana school on the 19th and 20th of the same month. Team 2 will visit Vasco Núñez school on October 16th and 17th.
Team 3 will also visit Gabriel Miró on October 27 and 28, Murtal on November 6, and Puig Campana on November 19. Finally, Team 4 is responsible for the visits to El Campello plant. The first will take place on the 27th of this month, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., with the Gabriel Miró school. That same day, from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., Bautista Lledó will visit the plant, and the El Murtal school will visit the plant on October 31. The Almadrava Secondary School will visit on November 6, and Pere María Orts on November 11. The visits will conclude with students from Puig Campana school on November 18.
