In the first half of August the increase was 6% compared to the same period of 2019

The entry of vehicles to Benidorm increased 15% in July compared to 2019, before the pandemic

16 August 2023
La entrada de vehículos a Benidorm creció en julio un 15% con respecto a 2019, antes de la pandemia

The high season in Benidorm is reaching historical records of visitors and, as the Minister of Tourism, Nuria Montes, pointed out last week, this summer may be one of the best in history. The data confirms this. Not only those for the occupancy of hotels, tourist apartments, or second homes but others as objective as the entry of vehicles into the city.

Thus, according to the figures offered by the Department of Mobility, the number of vehicles that entered Benidorm during July was 15% higher than that registered in the same month of 2019, before the pandemic. This means that the municipality has recovered from those effects and that it reaches much higher numbers.

Regarding August, the trend is very similar. The data indicates that the growth in the number of vehicles in the first fortnight of this month has been 6% higher than in the first fortnight of August 2019.

And the same can be said of the figures for the years 2021 and 2022. As reported by the Department of Mobility, the increase in the entry of vehicles this July has been 14% higher than in 2021 and 4% higher. concerning the same month of 2022.

A trend that has also been experienced in the first half of August, in which the increase in vehicles has been 5% higher than the number of 2021 and 1% over 2022.

Given these numbers, the Councilor for Mobility, Francis Muñoz, has indicated that "it is very clear that the city has recovered very well and that the pre-pandemic figures have already been exceeded, which speaks volumes and well about the success of the model of Benidorm and the attraction it generates in our visitors”.

Muñoz also wanted to highlight that despite the significant increase in the flow of vehicles "there have been no major problems in city traffic." "Mobility in the large avenues, and the entrance and exit, has worked thanks to the measures that have been taken in these years, with which in general annoying traffic jams that did occur in other years have been avoided."
