‘El hombre que embotelló el sol’, el filme que proyecta la ciudad que imaginó Pedro Zaragoza

The documentary will be previewed on Thursday and will be broadcast by TVE starting in March

On Thursday, November 24, in Colci cinemas at 20.30 hours, the documentary film 'The man who bottled the sun' by Nakamura Films, directed by Óscar Bernàcer, will be pre-screened. A review of the figure of Pedro Zaragoza, the mayor of Benidorm who knew how to turn the city into one of the main tourist destinations in Spain. This morning, the director, accompanied by the Councilor for Culture, Ana Pellicer, the screenwriter, Joana M. Ortueta, and producer Jordi Llorca, presented the film's treasure to the media in El Torrejó. "The man who bottled the sun" are 84 minutes that collect "the birth and creation of tourist Benidorm through the figure of Pedro Zaragoza," said Ana Pellicer. "A project that the City has always considered that it had to support", and that in its day was presented jointly with the short film 'Bikini'. The mayor of Culture has emphasized the "arduous research work done by teammates" that has led them to "more than 80 interviews with neighbors and people from very different areas of our city" and that will lead "to the Great public the history of the origin and the consolidation of the tourist Benidorm that today we all know ". For his part, Óscar Bernàcer has defined the story that projects "The man who bottled the sun" as a "very beautiful crossing", but "very hard." A "difficult process" that has meant "more than two and a half years of work". There are many "things that can be told about Benidorm". Even so, we have been forced to "reduce the issues we wanted to deal with" and we have not been able to use all the interviews conducted with characters of all kinds linked to the city. Joana M. Ortueta, who at the beginning of her speech confessed that, at the beginning of this experience, started from "all the prejudices" that can be attributed to Benidorm, has finally declared admirer of "a tourist town that does not look like No other "and that to Pedro Zaragoza, if" had not existed, it would have to be invented. " Also, Jordi Llorca thanked the support that Nakamura has received from the City Council, Benidorm Tourism Foundation and collaborating companies, which has allowed the project to culminate with the premiere in theaters. 'The man who bottled the sun' will be seen for the first time this Thursday in Benidorm and, as of Friday 25, in Alfàs del Pi, Cocentaina, Petrer and Alicante (still to be confirmed). In next weeks will be projected in Valencia and Bilbao and from March it will be able to be seen in Spanish Television, in reduced version. The film is also among the candidates for the 31st edition of the Goya Awards, whose definitive listing will be released on December 14 in Madrid.
