The mayor will now raise this proposal to the Board of Spokespersons, which will be in charge of ratifying the granting of the award
The commission of Benidorm Cultural Distinction proposes to award the photographer from Jaume Fuster
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, will propose to the Board of Spokespersons to grant the Benidorm Cultural Distinction Award to the photographer Jaume Fuster, doctor in Audiovisual Communication, Documentation and Art History from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and professor of Artistic Photography at Escola d'Art i Superior de Disseny of that same city. In this way, the first mayor endorses the proposal agreed upon this Wednesday by the commission in charge of the award, made up of people and representatives of entities that have been awarded in previous years.
This commission met today to study the candidatures for the recognition that the City Council traditionally grants during the institutional plenary session on October 9 to outstanding personalities or organizations for their work in promoting and disseminating the culture and heritage of Benidorm. At this meeting, it was agreed to propose Jaume Fuster Pérez for this award.
Jaume Fuster is the author of a vast photographic work and documentation related to Benidorm, within which his multiple works on the Serra Gelada predominate, the result of his “passion and fascination” for this enclave. Among them, the realization in November of last year of the 'Plan of Serra Gelada and Penyes de l'Albir' stands out, promoted by the Hydrographic Commission of Taula del Bon Profit and coordinated by Fuster himself.
This work includes nearly 220 toponymic references of the land and maritime parts of the Natural Park, in what constitutes "a work for history and for future generations." Furthermore, it was the seed of another larger project, which includes the entire documentation process used over five years to create this plan, called 'Fent el plànol toponymic de la Serra Gelada I les Penyes de l'Albir'. The exhibition can currently be visited at Espai d’Art La Casilla.
