The initiative, promoted together with the Fundació Bromera, aims to encourage reading from local businesses, to which batches of books are delivered to offer them to their customers

Commerce and Historical Heritage premiere the reading animation campaign 'Espera llegint' at the Municipal Market

The Departments of Commerce and Historical and Cultural Heritage have launched a new reading animation campaign at the Municipal Market, 'Espera llegint', an initiative promoted together with the Fundació Bromera. The councilors of both areas, Lorenzo Martínez and Ana Pellicer, have explained that "this campaign promotes and encourages reading from the local business, which in turn offers its customers an 'extra' service, by giving them the chance to read a book while they wait to be served”.

The dynamics of the campaign are very simple. Participating establishments receive an exhibitor with a batch of books, which they make available to customers so that they can liven up their waiting time by reading some of the works. "It is about making that wait a more productive moment, dedicating that time to a habit as healthy for the mind and spirit as reading," they have indicated.
Martínez has detailed that "we started 'Espera llegint' in the Municipal Market, which is the best showcase to give visibility to the campaign as it is a nerve center for meetings and shopping, through which thousands of people pass every day".

For her part, Pellicer has transferred that "although we started this campaign in our Municipal Market, the objective is to extend it to all the shops and service establishments in the city that want it." In fact, "just a few days after the launch of 'Espera llegint', there are already six establishments that have asked us to join", to which "shortly" the exhibitor and the batch of books from the campaign will be delivered.

Businesses interested in joining the initiative and having their exhibitor and batch of books can contact the Department of Commerce via email comercio@benidorm.org or by phone at 966815443, or with the Central Library at 965855098 or by the mail biblioteca@benidorm.org.

Specifically, the display that is provided to shops, illustrated by the artist Alba López Soler, has eleven books from the 'Arrive in Valencia' collections by Bromera. "They are short stories by Valencian writers, with covers also designed by illustrators from the Community", specified the Councilor for Historical Heritage.
