The City Council reinforces lighting in six points of the city to improve safety and energy savings

Benidorm City Council is reinforcing street lighting in various parts of the city where a deficit or lighting problems have been detected. The councilman of Urban Scene and Public Road, José Ramón González de Zárate, has indicated that these actions will be developed in the coming weeks and have been programmed with the objective of "improving safety and further deepening energy savings".

The first point that has been acted on is the passage between the avenues of Cuba and Uruguay, used daily by the students of the Miguel Hernández public school and their families and that the City Council paved last year. De Zárate explained that "until now this passage, known as Provima road, lacked light." The installation of streetlights at this point will conclude next week and have been taken over by two telephone and communication companies in exchange for using the municipal channels. The estimated investment of just over 7,000 euros.

Also in the area of ​​La Cala is going to act in the streets of Mexico, Bolivia and Colombia, which lacked light due to the theft of wiring in the channeled street lighting. In addition to the replacement of the wiring and the operation of the street lamps, the installation of several luminaires that have suffered vandalism will also be carried out. This action has a cost close to 14,450 euros and will also allow to light the children's play area run by the promoter of the complex 'Sunset Drive'.

The councilor has indicated that he will also act in the passage of the Capitol building, which links the Plaza de Sus Majestades Reyes de España with the Via Emilio Ortuño. De Zárate has clarified that this passage "is private but of public use", and that to improve the lighting "are going to replace the spotlights that were installed a few years ago by others of 'led' technology".

Very close, in the accesses to the Parque de l'Aigüera from Primavera Street, "we are going to increase the lighting, taking care of the citizen complaints that have come to us". In this case you will also opt for the 'led' technology to reduce energy consumption. The 'LED' technology will also reach "an emblematic and tourist point of the city", the Serra Gelada Cross, illuminated until now with "fluorescent tubes".

These last three actions are valued at around 3,000 euros and will be fully executed "within approximately 15 days".

Lastly, and under the maintenance contract for the lighting, the street lights of Virgen del Rocío Street, which connects Aigüera Avenue with the fairgrounds and the leisure and entertainment park, have been changed.

De Zárate has pointed out that "these are small actions, but they are going to improve the quality of life of the citizens and the image of the city, and to increase security in the night transits".
