The 'Carxofa' party started last night with the traditional tasting of the typical buns from Benidorm, which was attended by the mayor of Benidorm Toni Pérez, accompanied by the councilman of Fiesta Jesús Carrobles, the queens of the Major Patron Saint Festivities, Beatriz Amor and Paula González de Zárate and numerous members of the municipal corporation.
This morning the president of the Carxofa Party, Silvia Jiménez Vargas, along with the Commission of Fiestas, have participated in the act in which a giant artichoke hangs in the middle of the square and that tomorrow night it will be burnt.
Then, one of the most traditional events is the festival, which is the 'XXXV Contest of Children's Drawing', in which many generations has involved children from the city. After that the commission offered a tasting of sardines and wines from the land.
This afternoon the events will continue with the performance of a music band from 5 pm, tasting typical products and musical performance at night.
A neighborhood festival rescued from times before the Civil War and that for more than 30 years residents of the Plaza del Calpí celebrate spontaneously, born before the war, and where it is tradition to taste typical buns of Benidorm, grilled sardines and artichokes.
