Séquia Mare Park brings together Benidorm clubs to enjoy the Day of the Mona
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, joined the festival participants during the celebration, along with the Councillor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, and numerous members of the City Council. Also in attendance were the regional deputy, José Ramón González de Zárate; the queens of the 2026 Patron Saint Festival, Laura Ivars and Carmen Guillem, and their courts of honour; and the presidents of the Association of Festival Groups, Diego Carrasco, and the Festival Committee, Ramón Cano.
The day began shortly after eight in the morning with the participation of most of the member groups. The pleasant weather and the newly opened facilities of the Parc de la Séquia Mare allowed the festival-goers to enjoy a memorable day.
La Séquia Mare Prak is a natural space integrated into the urban fabric, easily accessible on foot, allowing people to enjoy this type of gathering in a spacious and comfortable environment with accessible facilities.
As is customary, participants shared paella, cured meats, sweet and savoury flatbreads, and all kinds of food in a festive atmosphere. To bring the celebration to a close, the Associació de Penyes (Association of Festival Groups) distributed more than 2,700 Easter cakes (monas) among the attendees.
This year, Easter Cake Day also served as a prelude to the traditional Penyes Campout, another of the festival group's most important events, which will take place on April 24, 25, and 26 in the accessible area next to Juan Pablo II Avenue.
