The Brochette contest is consolidated in its second edition in Benidorm Gastronómico

21 September 2017
El Concurso de la Brocheta se consolida en su segunda edición en el Benidorm Gastronómico

Fifteen restaurants will compete with the creation of new gastronomic proposals

A total of 15 establishments in Benidorm will compete from next Saturday, September 23, and until Sunday, October 1, in the second edition of the Brochette contest that has consolidated this year as one important piece of Benidorm Gastronomic.

This morning, the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has presented the event with the president of Abreca, Javier del Castillo in an event attended by representatives of the different groups of the corporation, participating establishments, and of the sponsors of Benidorm Gastronómico 2017: Pedro Cintas and Juan Brotons. In his speech, Toni Pérez has pointed to catering professionals as "the most important part of any event that is held within Benidorm Gastronómico" of which the Brochette Contest is its fourth proposal.

The competition "was born linked to the celebration of the World Tourism Day", which this year will be celebrated worldwide on Wednesday 27 but in Benidorm will be "more gastronomic" than ever, Pérez recalled the presence in the city of the chef Ferran Adrià on the occasion of the celebration of FOCUS Pyme and Entrepreneurship. The mayor has been confident that "what Adrià does on that World Tourism Day, remains as a pit for all those who dedicate to catering and also for all those who are being formed in the field of hospitality," a special reference to the students of the CdT and of the School of Hospitality of IES Mediterrània.

For his part, Javier del Castillo has pointed out that the work of local catering professionals is to "offer a smile" and "to be pleasant with our clients because we do it for Benidorm", without leaving aside the "good raw material "because with it, Benidorm continues to rise level, gastronomically speaking. "

In this edition they participate Aurrerá Pintxos, Bodegón Aurrerá, El Yantar d'Asturies, La Bodeguita de Salva, La Brasería Aurrerá, La Cava Aragonesa, La Aurería, Los Peces, Margen Restobar, El Marisquería Seafood, Taberna Andaluza, Tabernita del Sur, Talo Tako, Tragantúa and Zarzosa. Customers will be able to vote the best brochette by filling out the brochures that will be distributed in the different establishments.

The Brochette Competition is the penultimate phase of Benidorm Gastronómico that this year still proposes the VI Conference of the Rice of the Earth, starting on October 21. Previously there have been held the Spoon Days, the Gastronomic Fair and the Tapas and Pinchos Competition.
