Benidorm will transfer 155,000 euros to schools in the coming days for social and maintenance actions

The Department of Education of Benidorm City Council will transfer 155,000 euros to schools supported with public funds in the next few days and will be used to finance educational, social and maintenance and improvement actions of the facilities. The councillor of the area, Maite Moreno, has reported that "this amount corresponds to the so-called Municipal Cooperation Credits, which are distributed among the 20 local teaching centers that teach 2nd Cycle of Infant, Primary, Secondary and Adult Education Center".

Moreno recalled that "the distribution of these funds is equitable according to the criteria set out in the bases approved yesterday by the Local Government Board (JGL)." In this way, the distribution of funds is made according to "the school population of each center and the socio-cultural work they carry out for the benefit of the community."

The Councilor for Education has pointed out that “these Cooperation Credits are used to pay for the educational-cultural activities carried out by each center such as collective pedagogical outings, extracurricular training and school exchanges; to projects focused on responding to the socioeconomic needs of families in the school environment, such as individual meals or school outings; to maintenance costs of the facilities; and assume the transfer of students to the Children's Traffic Park ”.

In addition, "this year as a novelty we have included a fifth module, of 5,450 euros, destined to pay for extraordinary expenses for the commissioning of the new multipurpose building that is being built at CEIP Leonor Canalejas". The two educational centers that will make use of these facilities have access to this module, Leonor Canalejas school and  Adult Education Center (FPA), and these funds may be used, for example, to purchase furniture, material and signage.

Moreno recalled that “through these Cooperation Credits, year after year the City Council supports and contributes to local education by making available to the centers, and by extension to the families, funds so that they can develop activities that complement the curricula students' school, to improve facilities and infrastructure, and also to help families with needs ”. To these Credits, he has deepened, "is added the extraordinary investment made by the City Council in all educational centers supported with public funds since the beginning of the pandemic to ensure that the development of academic activity is carried out in the best conditions for teachers and students ”.
