The City Council is allocating 22,000 euros to finance these subsidies, whose beneficiaries will receive a single payment of 100 euros for each month of international stay

Education department announces a new round of grants for local students pursuing undergraduate studies abroad

Educación convoca una nueva edición de las ayudas para estudiantes locales que cursen estudios de Grado en el extranjero

Benidorm City Council has approved, in a meeting of the Local Governing Board, the call for applications for a new round of grants for international mobility for local students undertaking study abroad programs through the Erasmus+ program or other similar official programs related to undergraduate studies during the 2026/27 academic year. The City Council is allocating €22,0000 to these grants for the current academic year.

As explained by the Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno, these grants aim to “support university students and students in Higher Vocational Training programs in Benidorm who, as part of their studies, participate in these types of programs to complete part of their training in other countries; an option that also allows them to experience living outside of Spain and complement their academic work by learning or improving a foreign language.”

Another objective is “to address the teaching and learning needs of all participants in formal university or professional education.”

Thus, the municipal aid will allow for “reducing the expenses these programs impose on the beneficiaries' families” and, in turn, “collaborating and facilitating student exchanges with other foreign institutions, contributing to the creation of a community of young, well-qualified future professionals with international experience,” the councilwoman added.

The terms of the call for applications stipulate that beneficiaries of this aid will receive 100 euros for each month of their stay abroad, with a maximum period of 9 months, which is the duration of the entire academic year. The councilwoman also emphasised that “this municipal aid is fully compatible with other aid that the student may receive from any public administration or private entity to facilitate their stay during the program.” Ultimately, “this is about doing our part to ensure that students from Benidorm have greater support and financial resources during the months they spend studying abroad.”

The terms of this call for applications indicate that the payment to the beneficiaries will be made through a single payment, as approved today, once the stay at the destination university for the indicated period of time has been verified.
