Just one day after announcing the configuration of Benidorm as Smart Destination Living Lab, the mayor, Toni Pérez, has advanced that “next spring the PATTI public service of smart tourist health care for the elderly will be activated”. A project focused on “generating greater protection” for visitors, mainly foreigners, and that yesterday in the framework of Fitur moved to the Minister of Tourism, Reyes Maroto.

Toni Pérez has explained that it is a pilot program that “was announced last September, which comes from the hand of the Wellcomtour consultancy and that after the testing phase is already almost ready to start working, in the absence of concluding the data protection architecture, undoubtedly the one that has been most jealous, to ensure at all times the confidentiality of the medical information that the user transfers. ”

Thus, from next spring, the City Council, through Visit Benidorm, will offer this service to senior pluripatological tourists or with special needs that in this way "will have a medical security bonus during their stay in the city." "In this way," he said, "age and possible health or mobility problems will no longer be an impediment to travel to Benidorm."

This initiative of Protection and Smart Technical Tourist Attention (PATTI) works with an electronic device with geolocator and intercom with SOS emergency button, and also has a sensor for falls and emergency situations that “monitors the user allowing to know their needs, improve the procedures and activate protocols for action and communication in their language of origin if necessary ”.

The deployment of this PATTI service positions Benidorm "as a technological innovator in the reception of tourists with special needs", while "allowing us to move forward in our Smart Tourist Destination (DTI) strategy aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) .

As they have moved from Wellcomtour, this device can be hired through the web patti.es. Upon arrival, the user will receive their device to use this service, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

In the event of an incident, the problem is managed through PATTI, ambulance service is sent, the person is transferred to the referral hospital and, at the same time, the necessary data for a more efficient care is derived, “with which They will reduce waiting times and the attention will be immediate and personalized ”. In addition, the service will be in charge of communicating with the user's family, if necessary.

From Wellcomtour, Oscar Nomberla has pointed out that this pilot program "will be developed for six months", after which "it will be evaluated and updated to apply it to new markets". With the one hundred devices programmed initially, 1,200 tourists will be served in the pilot period in “a quality commitment to quality tourism”.

At this time, PATTI managers have already signed the permits with the two private hospitals in the city, IMED Levante and HCB, which have shown their absolute support for this service; while other cities have already shown interest in implementing it.
